HER MAJESTY’S 94th REGIMENT of FOOT

 

Whereof  Lt General J Thornton Grant is Colonel, at Lydenburg, Transvaal 29 March 1880.

PROCEEDINGS OF A REGIMENTAL BOARD, held this day, in conformity to the Articles of War, for the purpose of verifying and recording the Services, Conduct, Character and cause of Discharge of No 3169, Private Martin Gormley of the Regiment above-mentioned.

THE BOARD having examined and compared the Regimental Records, the Soldier’s Book and such other documents as appeared to them necessary, report that after making every deduction required by Her Majesty’s Regulations, the Service up to this day, which he is entitled to reckon amounts to 21 years, 29 days as shown by the detailed statement on the second page; during which period he served abroad 12 years 99 days viz.

At Gibraltar 243 days, East India 10 years 44 days in South Africa from 26 February 1879 1 year 33 days.

Additional 114 days to disembarkation and further that his DISCHARGE is proposed in consequence of

His having claimed it on termination of his second period of limited engagement.

With regard to the CHARACTER and CONDUCT of No 3169 Private Martin Gormley

The Board have to report that upon reference to the Defaulters Book, and by the Parole testimony that has been given, it appears that his conduct has been Good.

He is in possession of four (4) Good Conduct Badges.

He is in possession of Silver Medal for long Service and Good Conduct.

His name has been entered nine (9) times in the Regimental Defaulters Book.

He has been tried once (1) by Court Marshal

He has not been wounded.

No 3169 Private Martin Gormley Being asked to what date he has been paid, answered, that his Account is balanced up to the latest period required by the Regulations; and being further asked whether he has any claim on the Regiment for Arrears of PAY, ALLOWANCES or CLOTHING, answered that he has received all just demands, from his entry into the Service up to the 29th of March 1880 and in confirmation therefore, affixes his signature hereto –

The Board have ascertained that No 3169 Private Martin Gormley Soldiers Book is correctly balanced, and signed by the Officer Commanding his Company, and they declare, that they have impartially enquired into, and faithfully reported upon, all the matters brought before them, in accordance with the Regulations and Instructions issued by Her Majesty’s Orders, and that the amount of deferred pay and interest which this soldier is entitled to up to this date is £    s    d.

The Board have likewise ascertained that the sum of …………………….., being the amount required by Regulation for his Discharge by Purchase, has been lodged by Mr………………………… with the ……………………whose receipt for the same is annexed hereto. Signed President and Members.
